Tuesday, my eye ached. Wednesday, it was clear I might have pinkeye. Thursday I saw a doctor, and was ordered out of my workplace (after seeing the doctor). Friday I was out of work again.

Today I am feeling tons better, and have no eye pain, just in time to shovel tons of snow.

Life, it is crazy!

I am still weeks behind on LJ... sadly.

I hope everyone else in the New England region is all right and has power. We do, and thankfully were able to find someone to plow the end of our driveway, so I only shoveled out the front door to the carport, and the cars inside the carport. The one person who has parked outside in the driveway... had a car totally free of snow, thanks to the wind.

And now I have an illness which is not the flu, though I got a fever and body aches and other flu-like symptoms, and is not strep throat, though all the pain started in my tonsil.

This virus, whatever it is, sucks. I would like the excitement of the New Year to please end, as I've had about 4 months of excitement in 4 weeks.

Also, if you have the oppertunity to get tested for the flu, be aware that this involves having a swab stuck up your nose until it hurts, then it is pushed in a bit farther and twisted. Very not fun.

Someday, some year, I will read the stuff on LJ. I swear.

Wow, [livejournal.com profile] djinni makes amazing art. It's fun, and based off of the costume I invented for PortCon last year. Just WOW.

Also, because [livejournal.com profile] aldersprig is also awesome, I get the art, as a Christmas present. I will squee more when it arrives.

See the art here : http://djinni.livejournal.com/352028.html?thread=4491036#t4491036

This made my week, and possibly my year (it has only been 6 weeks of the year). I got sick briefly around Christmas, Angel got sick at New Year's, his little boy has been sick twice since then, and Angel is sick again. So things have been kinda miserable, with the occasional bit of fun (getting together with friends to play WoW cards, etc).

So, that's why I haven't been around much, but I am reading all your journals and commenting and such.

Right, getting sick twice in one month really sucks. I got two throat swabs done yesterday (because the first quick test for strep came back negative), and both elicited the comment os "Wow, oh you poor thing" from the two different nurses.

So, I am once again going to be about a week behind on LJ, and you're gonna get random comments from me on really old stuff at some point. When I feel like sitting up. Thankfully the back pain and muscle spasms are no longer troubling me.

I really hope everyone else has managed to avoid Death Plague, Parts I and II.

I was in Rochester on Sunday. Just Sunday, and the day was very full. But oh, it was great!

I had brunch in Ithaca with [livejournal.com profile] lissa_dora, which was yummy and included fun conversation. That really kept up all day, and I really loved that because I don't get to just talk to people as much as I would like (what with not having close friends in town).

Then we arrived in Rochester, and after a lightning fast trip to the mall (she shops like a guy and has mall geography- it was a thing of pure precision), we got to visit [livejournal.com profile] moriden. I've really missed my panther, and this made me very happy.

Then we drove to [livejournal.com profile] jilliko and [livejournal.com profile] netbard's house. Changeling! I have not LARPed since May, and the opportunity to do so was just what I needed. I took my concept from another Changeling: The Lost and had the fun of dumping a bunch of XP on her. And LARPing in a non-college setting was so much nicer- we could eat, drink, and be merry with much more ease. And what food! Oh it was great.

Sadly, I began to get something like a migraine in the middle of game. I didn't feel too bad, and certainly didn't want to miss any game. By the time we left though, I had a problem. I'd eaten a bunch of rich food (I love good food) and had a headache that included some sensitivity to light and sound and a bit of nausea. And that was before I got in a car. I get motion sickness in anything that moves, save a train. I have some medication that helps, and some extremely effective wristband things (which I wore on a bus ride earlier in the week and was fine).

But, well... the motion of the car just did me in. *sigh* I feel very guilty about that, especially as I got a brief glimpse of where I was and it seemed to be Twelve Corners. I spent most of the ride with my eyes closed. It was the most discomfort I've ever experienced over such a long period of time while traveling.

But the day I had was well worth it. Just wonderful on so many levels.

And today! I ended up staying the night at [livejournal.com profile] lissa_dora's since what should have been a two hour drive turned into three and a half. And after work today...

My art is here!

I ordered prints from [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar and they arrived! I first asked for Forgotten Garden, which is lovely and ethereal. I also got a few mini-prints off her brand new printer which produces vivid colors. And there was a sketch! One that I will have to find online to figure out which sketch I ended up with a print of (there are MANY on her site). It's an elf, in a library!

So Much Goodness!

Home sick

We have utterly excessive amounts of snow. The turkeys were doing fine with the previous amount, but I haven't seen them try to walk after last night.

I got four days off work in a row. Normally, this would be very neat. Sadly, that's when I got sick. So no fun for me.

I have been crocheting. I've made a hooded scarf with a gian hood and scarf bits which ought to be longer (but are the right size according to the pattern). I'm not sure if I am going to live with it or frog it- the chenille I used will be very messy if I frog it.

Once I was done with that, I realized that I'd be stuck in the house with my parents on New Year's Day. This means football, and I find that boring. So a quick trip to Jo Ann's and I have a new project! I grabbed enough yarn to make a bunch of bags.

[livejournal.com profile] lissa_dora is right, Sugar 'n Creme is very neat stuff. It is very thin, which can be annoying to work with, but the yarn just feels very nice and soft. Plus the colors I picked are very bright and cheerful (some may argue they are eye-searing, but whatever).

Also, new crafty userpic. Yay, felting.

So. First, I have spent the last few days being sick. I called out of work yesterday. This was not fun at all.

Second, I've just posted about my hair again. It's been a while, and if anyone new (or anyone who has been here for a while and missed the previous invites) wants to read me blathering about my hair, comment and I'll add you to the filter.

Third, here is a new, cool, icon (thanks Sonya!).

And fourth, the meme is back (they never die... zombie memes!)

The question game!
Reply with any 3 questions you want me to answer.
Post this in your journal so I can ask you questions!

Still sick

Spent the weekend being sick, when not at a Halloween party, looking at Panther's soon-to-be house, or having lunch with Panther's mom.

Still not well.

Hopefully did not make Panther sick.

In other important news, Montana Mills is making a specialty bread through Halloween- Pumpkin nut swirl. It is very good- it's essentially their famous Cinnamon Swirl with pumpkin, walnuts, and pumpkin pie spices. Yummy. Get it while you can.
