Once again, I am in Maine.

Arrived Friday evening. I'll be leaving Tuesday night, and staying with a friend on the way back to New York.

Vacation is good. I've already read one book. For reference, I have not had the opportunity to read a single novel since getting my new job and moving. I've been that busy.

Small Favor is a great novel, very well written. Then ending is a real downer- I can see that Jim is setting up for the more depressing middle bits of the long war.

I have another two books with me, as well as a crochet and a knitting project. Life is good.

The beach at Fort Popham is still lovely, and Spinny's still makes great onion rings and amazing blueberry shortcake. Got in to L.L. Bean today, and we had dinner at the Mediterranean Grill (Pastito! Red Lentil Soup! Turkish Tea! Baklava!)

Life is good indeed. Tomorrow, random adventures with M. We never know where we'll end up.

I'll be back home with regular internet access on Wednesday.

I finished Captain's Fury the other day. Jim Butcher is brilliant. That book is so damn good.

I've also recently read Anne Bishop's Sebastian. Rather unsurprisingly, the main character is an incubus. Happily, he's not annoying. In fact, the book is good, and the setting is really interesting. I couldn't get into the elf/fae/witch/whatever trilogy she wrote after the Black Jewels books, and had started to wonder if she was a one-setting author. I'll have to revisit those earlier books once I get my bookshelves back.

My life briefly turned into an amusing take on a commercial earlier this week.

Me: *stands in front of women's room mirror at work, getting ready to put my wet hair up*

Co-worker: *enters a stall, muttering something about missing Puerto Rico too much*

Me: What was that?

Co-worker: I must be missing Puerto Rico so much I'm hallucinating. I swear I smell coconuts.

Me: Oh, that's me. Sorry.

Attention all Jim Butcher fans!

Want info on the new TV series? Think it's going to suck just because a few things got changed? Curious?

Check out the new podcast, The Butcher Block. The first episode explains who the guy hosting the show is, and how he knows Jim. The second episode is 46 minutes long, including about a half hour interview with Jim. The topic of the podcast is the TV show, and the "nerdrage" that some book fans have about the new show. It's good stuff, and explains some of the changes and why they were needed.

http://butcherblock.libsyn.com/ - At the end of each episode summary is a link to download the MP# or listen to it through your browser (the easiest way to hear it).

Anyone wanting shots from the show need only hit YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=B268BB834165D34F

If I could afford cable, I'd be watching this. As it is, I'm now officially begging friends with TiVo and DVRs to let me wander over with a VCR tape and copy their recordings.
